Presenting our first litter of whippets, by Ch D & R's Brindle of Joy-Bunn ("BJ") and Locar's Palm Beach Ballot, FCh ("Elle"). While we have owned whippets since January 1993, we chose to wait until the right time to breed, right for us as well as the right match. After much debate, we decided it was time and bred two of our whippets that we believe were complements to each other. We are very excited about the breeding which produced twelve 'flashy' puppies on September 27, 2003. Unfortunately, one little female was subsequently euthanized due to umbilical defects. A sad morning, but we cherish the other eleven (seven males, four females) who are doing well.
We have some homes lined up for several of the pups, although no one has been allowed to pick their pup at this time. We continue to look for some good homes who are interested in showing and/or coursing as we believe these pups will be promising at one or both of these events. Puppies will be available in early December 2003. I will be updating the site weekly so that the new families can keep up with the litter's progress.
Wow, hard to believe what can happen in just two weeks. Here are the puppies rolling around the box at two weeks of age. New things happening very quickly with the group and each day brings a lot of changes in the little box. Seems that there will be plenty to keep up with over the coming week and that each day will bring a new change to the group. The little guy in the litter is finally starting to grow, and while all of the others are now over 1 lb., the little runt in the family is now up to about 11 ounces, not bad considering that a week ago he was at 4 1/4 oz. Stay tuned for the next update in about a week. If you have interest in seeing the individual photos of the group, email me privately and I will send you to another link. Elle looking very tired with the growth of the puppies in just two weeks.
